With the success of their current flat profile, ProShake, US Tile has developed a slate profile on our existing ProShake platform. Slate, like clay tile, has also been used for thousands of years and is highly desirable because of its natural beauty and long term performance and durability.
The drawbacks to natural slate are cost and weight. ProSlate combines the natural beauty of slate with the durability, long life, lower cost and light weight only US Tile clay roofing products can deliver. ProSlate is being introduced in four colors and patterns covering the natural grey color spectrum as well as green. The colors are designed to either stand on their own, or be blended together to produce a natural color blend that can be designed to meet individual tastes.
The texture pattern of ProSlate will feature heavy cleave marks in the field that mimic the aesthetic of high-end, 1/2" to 3/4" thick superior grade natural slate. Cleave plains in the body of the slates also have a variety of subtle textures to add interest and color variety due to the different reflectivity of light reflecting off the surface of the product.
Weight is a key issue when designers consider natural slate for any project. ProSlate is a lightweight product, weighing 590 pounds per square, making structural considerations due to weight a thing of the past. It also makes the product of their home with a product that mimics the beauty of natural slate, and delivers the durability and life of clay at a fraction of the cost.
Because of it's extremely low water absorption and pressed manufacturing technique, ProSlate is also considered a Grade 1, All-Weather product. It can be installed anywhere in the US without concern for freeze-thaw conditions or snow loads when installed according the TRI cold climate installation guidelines. ProSlate also has many of the same environmentally friendly features our traditional clay products have, using all natural, 100% recyclable clay. We use 10% post consumer recycled materials and the finished on the market today can offer more potential LEED credit points than clay, and ProSlate is no exception. Now US Tile customers can capitalize on the benefits of a truly green product without the additional cost typically associated with environmentally conscious products.
ProSlate will be covered by US Tile's industry leading transferable, limited lifetime warranty that covers labor for the first 10 years and color fading for the first 20 years. ProSlate will be available nation-wide in late August. For more information please visit US Tile at http://www.ustile.com/.
