Roof Products & Systems Create Greener Insulation with Non-Petroleum Based Binder
Roof Products & Systems has advanced rooftop curb technology to further meet green building standards by now using insulation with a non-petroleum based binder. Five years of detailed research and testing to developed this new insulation binder based on bio-based sources, which are rapidly renewable and contain no phenol, formaldehyde, acrylics or artificial colors. Additionally, this new binder utilizes recycled glass which reduces landfill requirement.
The high attributes of RPS's previous insulation can still be found- three pound per cubic foot density for thermal efficiency to result in lower operating costs, excellent acoustical properties to effectively reduce noise, and UL classified 25 flame spread and 50 smoke developed.
The new insulation will not accelerate corrosion of either aluminum or steel nor will it promote or support the growth of mold, fungi or bacteria. The new insulation is also certified for indoor air quality as a low emitting product by The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute to both the GREENGUARD Certification Program and the more stringent GREENGUARD for Children and Schools standard. The insulation complies with ASTM C 612: Type IA; California Title 24; HH-I-558C: Form A, Class 1; and NFPA 90A and 90B.
