MonierLifetile and Brandguard Vents Sign Supplier Agreement

IRVINE, CA - MonierLifetile, manufacturer of concrete tile roof systems, and Brandguard Vents, manufacturer of  flame and ember resistant vents, recently announced that they have signed a 3-year supply agreement.

"Concrete roof tile is the most fire safe roofing material on the market and we aim to further improve the fire safety of homes with Brandguard Vents," he added.

The idea for Brandguard Vents was developed by Brent Berkompas, the company's president and founder. Brent is a firefighter for the City of San Bernardino and he was on the job fighting the California wildfires of 2003 and 2007 when he witnessed first-hand the vulnerability of homes to fire brands entering through traditional vents. Brandguard Vents, with its patent-pending overlapping baffle design, underwent 3 years of testing with leading industry professionals and set a national standard for effective fire prevention.

"I've seen first-hand how windblown flames and embers can burn a house down in minutes," said Brent Berkompas. "I invented Brandguard Vents to save homes."

Brandguard Vents work to prevent rapidly spreading wildfire because the overlapping baffles in the vents act as a barrier to break the momentum of windblown flames and embers, virtually eliminating the fire brands entering through a structure's vent openings. The patent pending design has comparable net free vent area (NFVA) to conventional vents and allows for sufficient exchange of moist air thus preventing mold issues. Brandguard Vents were the first commercially available vents designed to meet the new Chapter 7A requirements of the California Building Code. This new code requires builders and roofers to use vents that resist the intrusion of flames and embers when building or reroofing in fire-prone areas.

The Brandguard Vents product portfolio includes dormer vents, gable end vents, eave and soffit vents, foundation vents and fire plugs for soffit and eave vents. Brandguard Vents can be installed on any structure with any roofing material. Models are available for new construction and retrofit uses with a variety of flange styles. All products are made with 26 gauge G-90 galvanized steel for maximum durability and weather protection and carry a 20-year manufacturer's warranty.
