Green Roofing System Tops Chicago Museum Exhibit
An exhibit at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry is topped by energy-efficient, environmentally friendly roofing systems. The roof installed on a fully functioning, three-story modular and sustainable "green" home being built in a park on the Museum grounds. The home is the centerpiece of an exhibit titled Smart Home: Green + Wired. The exhibit is open until January 4, 2009.
Visitors to the home are able to stroll around the Mule-Hide Living Roof featuring the patented GreenGrid Modular Green Roof System. Created by engineering, roofing and horticultural experts, the system includes lightweight GreenGrid modules that arrive at the site pre-planted and ready to install.
The GreenGrid modules are placed on top of the white, .045-inch thick Mule-Hide TPO membrane. The membrane is fully adhered to the Mule-Hide FR Deck Panel. Adjacent to the Mule-Hide Living Roof is a STAYLOC Architectural Metal System and matching coping trim from ACM. For more information, call 800-786-1492 or log onto http://www.mulehide.com/.
