RCS Survey Results
Yorba Linda, Calif. - RoofersCoffeeShop.com, the leading internet site for roofing contractors, recently ran a survey to determine the growth of roofing contractor interaction on the World Wide Web. With 84 percent of respondents showing internet access in both home and office, it is definitely a growing medium.
The survey, which was conducted through RoofersCoffeeShop.com's sister media Roofers Exchange, asked contractors and other professionals in the roofing industry 35 questions with room for individual comments. The survey concluded that many roofers are continuing to adapt to modern technology. As noted, 84 percent do have internet access but over 65 percent of roofing companies still do not have a Web site to promote their company and services. The survey found 93 percent of respondents use the Internet primarily to research products in the industry.
Along that line, nearly 60 percent of people surveyed use RoofersCoffeeShop.com and its forum at / to gain product and installation information from peers and manufacturers. They went on to state that prime reasons for using the Internet include networking, participating in industry chats, getting useful roofing information while learning how to get the maximum marketing exposure for their companies.
Yet there is room for growth. The results reflected that contractors feel that manufacturers and distributors are not using Internet tools to their fullest potential. A surprising 82 percent of the people surveyed said they would order materials from the Internet and 75 percent said they would like to see distributors and manufacturers offer more services online.
"These conclusions can only prompt people in the roofing industry to continue to utilize the Internet. The Web provides a wealth of information and allows people to reach out to new customers and inquiring roofing contractors," stated Vickie Sharples, president of Design Build Marketing, the owner of Roofers Coffee Shop and Roofers Exchange. "The Internet is not only beneficial for roofing contractors, but it will also enhance sales potential for the industry."
As one survey respondent noted, "You've provided us with current information in an industry that needs all the information we can get."
