REALLY THOUGHT PROVOKING POSTS

For those of you that don’t go on the RCS forum much I would like you to think about looking at it.    The Forum is like a brotherhood of roofers.  Rather than being competitors it’s filled with people that understand your business and try and help you.    I was reading through posts from the last week and these caught my eye as really thought provoking and informative.

SIDE WORK – this is a great dialog.  Really gives you food for thought on both sides of the coin.  I am sure what ever your opinion or policy there is some great information there.  At the time of this posting it had 1241 views.  Please read it.

OPINIONS NEEDED – great question.  When you are completely loyal and a terrific customer to a supplier and they give an average joe a better price than you, what is the best way to handle it?

There are lot of great topics and you don’t have to log in to read them, just to respond.  OLD SCHOOL SLATE SCHOOL is another great one.

Do yourself a favor and scroll through the Forum once in a while, you’ll be glad you did.

Our New T4MI Program!

Texting is the wave of the future, for a means of advertising that is. Someone finally figured out that besides communicating with each other that we can make information about products and services available to the “Texter”. Accessible where ever your cell phone is, you can view a mobile webpage that it optimized just for a cell phone. Think about it, it is brilliant.

This is how I see it. You are in front of a home with some remodeling work being done and there is a job-sign. The sign has the usual contact information along with a texting ‘Go-Code” on it. You stop and text the code and “boom”, you now have all kinds of information about that company. No digging through a purse or glove compartment for a pen and paper. The information is stored in your phone. It’s a mobile take-one brochure.

An individual could be following you down the road and see the GO-Code on your truck. When I bought my house my entryway had beige tile with dark brown grout and I HATED it. I was in my car and got behind a van that said ‘Hate your grout?’ (no kidding) and had their phone number and I called it and they came and repainted my grout. I didn’t even know they had such a service.

Fast forward 10 years later. If they would have had a text code I could have texted them and seen neat things about their company. Granted they could have mailed me a brochure but the delay might have lost the immediate impulse to buy. Let’s face think about that van driving around never knowing I was interested. When I text them they have captured my phone number. Again, this is brilliant.

This can so easily plugged into your existing campaigns and relationships. More importantly you are turning your traditional advertising into an interactive and engaging experience. It’s the perfect lead. You didn’t approach them, they are contacting you. You are making their first experience with your company fun. This is all good for starting a relationship with your company on a positive note.

There is four important points about this technology:

  1. The lead comes to you
  2. It’s a very low cost to implement
  3. When they text your go code you get a text or email with their cell phone number.
  4. They have a very positive experience with this new technology.

FUTURE BLOG TOPICS
Texting to see your cavalcade of products.
Will the phone replace the computer?
Texting for classifieds
RCS on your phone?
Texting for product alerts and promotions
Mobile coupons for fun and profit

Hello Roofing World

vicsphoto_213

Well folks, this is my very first blog. My name is Vickie and I own the Roofers Exchange and RoofersCoffeeShop.com. I have been in the roofing industry 33 years in one way or another. I have a little street cred, I know a little about a lot of things in the roofing industry and I may be one of the few girls you know that looks at every roof driving down the street.

I don’t think that what I personally have to contribute is so interesting that my blog would be important to you but what I do have is the opportunity to talk to roofers all over the country every day. They call us on the phone and of course we have the glorious tool of the RCS.com forum to communicate. So my plan is to talk about my day interacting with the roofing industry. I will post questions, thoughts and comments and it should create some interesting commentary. One thing I have going for me is that I care about this industry and it would be an honor to help it in any way I can.
