CRA Wins Gold Circle Award for Brent's Place

The Gold Circle Awards recognize NRCA members from around the world for outstanding contributions to the roofing industry in four categories: outstanding workmanship, service to the community, innovative solutions and service to the industry.

Service to the community:
Winner: Colorado Roofing Association, Denver, for Brent's Place

In April 2007, the Colorado Roofing Association (CRA) was presented an opportunity to help with, as one CRA Board member put it, “the mother of all community service projects. Brent's Place new 4-story building near Children's Hospital on the Fitzsimmons Medical Campus needed 125 squares of EPDM with reflective coatings and 1200 square feet of plaza pavers, 110 squares of 10/12 shingle roofs including barrel dormers and ridge vent, 580' of metal fascia, over 500' of gutters/downspouts, scuppers and all required flashings. The Board agreed this would be a daunting but worthy undertaking, voting to contribute the entire roofing system, including labor and materials totaling approximately $190,000.

Completed in November 2008, the CRA can now look back on this eight+ month project with satisfaction. A unique community service event, Brent's Place was an amazing coordination of literally hundreds of volunteers accumulating close to 1400 man hours, a huge financial contribution to a very worthy non-profit organization, and a unified construction effort that the Colorado Roofing Association has every reason to be extremely proud of.
